What do you do after moving to a state where you know no one but your husband? You get a dog, of course. Welcome home, Colt!

Six short months ago Zack and I brought home our very first animal to make our small, Texas family. Through potty training and teaching commands, Colt has grown up into a beautiful dog that I’m proud to call mine. Even though he has chewed on a couple of shoes. And wakes up at 2 a.m. to play with his squeaker toys. And sleeps on my feet so I can’t move.
When he was around 3-4 months, his ears were only partially up (only the tips fell over). We had discussed taping, but I didn’t want to force it. Then, eventually, they stood up! I think it happened because I kept telling him that he was ugly with those floppy ears, haha!
Colt is half Australian Shepherd and half German Shepherd. He has a very fluffy coat (he feels like fleece) and he constantly is whining. His favorite thing to do during a walk is to find a stick and bring it home, playing with it all the way. That’s my boy!

Awww! He’s grown up so handsome!! I love it. Our little Harley Girl was not supposed to get any bigger than when we had but she has and it is so amazing to look back on her photos from only a few months ago and see how much she has changed. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful Colt with us.
Colt probably won’t get any bigger – he’s been fairly constant for the past 3 months
Thank you for sharing him! I moved to my husband’s home state, too (from San Diego…what a change). We had an Australian Cattle Dog (aka Blue Heeler) puppy and unfortunately, he passed away a week ago. Your boy is gorgeous. The Australian breeds are great dogs. Enjoy him!

Awww! He’s adorable! Got so big and even cuter. Pets are great companions and yes, even good to keep you warm on those cold nights!
And I cut his hair this week – now he looks even cuter! haha

My mom took my cat when I moved because he has lived there for four years already. I miss my kitty!

He hasn’t chewed in front of us, so I can’t reprimand him on it with the water bottle. I hope I catch him so I can correct his behavior!

I know! We’ve tried to take trips, but feel bad for leaving him in a pet hotel. One night made us feel guilty!

Wow — he has grown a lot in 6 months. And boy is he cute! I probably would have gotten a dog too if I was in a new place where I didn’t know anyone. They’re the perfect way to keep from feeling lonely.
I even met a few neighbors with dogs because of him! He helped me socialize 🙂

Oh he is so sweet. I love him already. We do lots of animal rescue work at our farm and it warms my heart that you two found each other. Lives are so much better when we have our fur babies to love. They are truly special.

Aww, I don’t think it was really right for us to get him (we don’t have a yard since we’re in an apartment), but we did and we love him. He’s so smart that we got through potty training quickly and I try to teach him new things
