What is Notion?

Notion is a free online productivity/organizational tool that is centered around databases. It is a single space where you can think, write and plan. It ‘s an all-in-one workspace for you and/or your team.

I first started using Notion in Spring 2020. It was went I was sent to work from home during quarantine. I needed a way to get organized and keep myself accountable for work. I was taking some online classes for work and I needed a way to keep track of my progress. I have a work database that I use to track my time for clients.

Notion is incredibly versatile and can be used for whatever you want, but the best way to get an idea of that is to see some examples of how people are using it.

Why I Use Notion to Track My Content Calendar

I wanted to go over how I use Notion to track my content calendar for this website. I have tried Asana, Smartsheets, and Trello for project management software in the past, but I didn’t really like the layout. Plus I was handling different tasks in each one so I was giving myself more work to do.

I can use Notion to stay organized, stay on top of my schedule, brainstorm, and track my progress. Watch the video for my behind the scenes of keeping my website’s content calendar.

This is a view of my January schedule for blog posts. If you’ve read my #22in2022 goals, then you already know that one of my goals for 2022 is to write 10 posts per month. Not only am I crazy for planning 10 posts, but I’m so disorganized and tend not to complete anything. So how am I going to get organized? By creating a database with Notion, I am giving myself a to-do lists and progress report all-in-one.

Notion provides you with a lot of templates to help you get some ideas when starting your account. Once you get used to the interface, then it’s easier to come up with your database from scratch. I keep adapting and evolving, but this is the one I use most.

I’ve been using Notion for a while to help me keep track of my progress. It’s a really great tool that offers a lot of options and it is flexible to whatever goal you have.
