My Journey to Fit-ish: How I lost 9.4 Pounds in 3 Months

My Journey to Fit-ish: How I lost 9.4 Pounds in 3 Months

Another check-in post! One of my #22in022 goals was to lose 10 pounds by March 31… and this post will detail my journey to fitish.

It’s important to me that I keep off the weight that I lost during 2021 and begin the next hurdle. I spent the holidays drinking too much. I wasn’t eating or sleeping appropriately either. I felt like my progress was scaling back.

These photos were taken the first week of January:

My Journey to Fit-ish

January 15, 2022 Check-in

I started with the iFit Italy Weight Loss Walking Series with trainers Stacie and Chris Clark. I finished that by January 17th. On the 15th, I joined the Commit to Fit Live 5K with trainer John Peel.

I didn’t know what to do next. I tried a couple other workouts over the following days, but didn’t like them too much. I wasn’t interested.

Then I remembered I started the Bora Bora Bootcamp series in August, but stopped because I felt it was too difficult for me at that time. I picked up on workout #3 which was the next one.

Weight: 158 pounds
Bust: 37″
Waist: 37″
Hips: 40″
Thighs: 22.5″
Bicep: 12″

January 31, 2022 Check-in

That morning I only had one more workout in the Bora Bora Bootcamp series. I was feeling good because I made so much progress in fifteen days. The scale was telling me that I was going in the right direction for my goals!

March 15, 2022 Check-in

This checkin was difficult for me. I had a couple nights of drinking over the weekend. I almost lost all my progress with how much bloating I had. I was also very sore from painting over the weekend.

Seeing these numbers were discouraging to me. I was still down in pounds, but to see my waist and hips move right back to where they were before made me sad.

Measurements Overall Change
Weight: 150.8 – 7.5 pounds
Bust: 33.5″ – 3.5″
Waist: 36″ – 1″
Hips: 37.5″ – 2.5″
Thighs: 22″ – 0.5″
Bicep: 11.5″ – 0.5″
Neck: 12.5″ – 1″

March 31, 2022 Check-in

After my checkin on the 15th, I went into a small depression. My grandma had a stroke and was put into hospice the next morning. On March 21st she passed away. I traveled to Minnesota for the funeral for five days to be with my family.

I was really sore to the point where it was difficult to get out of bed. I had to take so many rest days in March. The five days away from the treadmill let my body heal. I worked out once more on the last day of March, but I was so bloated from traveling that I didn’t want to take my measurements.

Working out was what was making me happy because I could physically see the change on my face. And then my body kept telling me that I have to stop. It’s difficult to listen.

April 4, 2022 Check-in

Down 9.4 pounds

I didn’t work out all weekend, but I did rest a little bit. I also tried to get my eating and sleeping back on schedule. I wanted my body to normalize.

This morning I continued where I left off in the Bora Bora series. I ran 2.7 miles and continued on my day! I wasn’t hurting when I got off the treadmill.

January vs April Comparison

My stats for 2022 are 151.89 miles over 101 workouts for a total of 39 hours, 10 minutes and 57 seconds!

Measurements Overall Change
Weight: 148.6 – 9.4 pounds
Bust: 34 – 3.5″
Waist: 33.5″ – 3″
Hips: 38.5″ – 1.5″
Thighs: 21″ – 1.5″
Bicep: 11.5″ – 0.5″
Neck: 12.5″ – 1″

The First 30 Days of My Weight Loss Journey

I’m not at the beginning of my weight-loss journey, but I was only walking in 2021. I wasn’t seeing results after summer. So, I made it one of my #22in2022 goals is to lose 10 pounds by the end of March. It isn’t an outrageous goal, but I work at a desk so I wasn’t sure how to even get started.

To help me stay consistent I created a new Instagram account @journeytofit_ish:

I didn’t have a plan, but I was going to hold myself accountable. That was the only thing I focused on! I tried to workout every day. Any kind of movement was good movement.

Find Your Why

I love my iFit membership. One of my favorite iFit trainers is Stacie Clark. During almost every workout she asks you to set your intentions and find your why.

Know your why. Stay committed. Remember your goals. – Stacie Clark

The first round I completed 23.8 miles. The second round I completed 28 miles. The third round I completed 29.85 miles. And I’m almost done with my fourth round of the program.

What’s my why? I want to lose weight for me. I want to feel confident in my body.

For a long time I did not recognize myself in the mirror. Last week I wrote about how stress affects your body. That was difficult for me to write because I didn’t know who I was anymore.

I had no passion for anything. I hated who I was. It was time for a change.

When we moved into our house, we bought the treadmill immediately. We bought the NordicTrack Commercial Series 10″ HD Touchscreen Display Treadmill 1750 Model and it came with a one year iFit membership.

Tips and Tricks

Maintain Consistency: As I mentioned in my ideal morning routine I like to workout in the morning. It helps to get the blood pumping right away and wake up the body.

Don’t Beat Yourself Up: Every time I gained momentum and made progress, I would have a setback. Too many inclines caused my knee to get sore; then I would have to take a few days off. Or I would have a late night out then end up sleeping in too late. I had to learn not to beat myself up over slowing down my progress. I had to tell myself that my body needs to heel and that its okay to take a day or two off.

XOXO,
Katie
