Lake Mineral Wells State Park & Trailway is located at 100 Park Rd 71, Mineral Wells, TX 76067.
For Christmas my sister mailed me a gift card to purchase a Texas State Parks Pass. She also sent a map of all the Texas State Parks marked on it.
When we drove into the park, we stopped at the dam to use the restrooms. After we hiked the Red Waterfront Trail, we got a little lost and almost exited the park, lol. The road to the other side of the lake is actually below the dam water-line. I didn’t even think that was a road at first!
We began out visit with hiking the Red Waterfront Trail. This trail took us down a rocky path along the lake then up to the parking lot near Penitentiary Hollow Overlook. The overlook gave us great views of the lake. That path was only about a .08 mile hike, followed by a walk back to the car.
Then we drove over to the Cross Timbers Camping Area where to walked the Black Trail for about a 2.3 mile hike. This path took us past Fort Wolters, winded around for more views of the lake, then brought us back inland to windy fields.
As we visit more Texas State Parks I will add more photo journeys of our visits.
