Yellowstone National Park has a lot of wildlife to offer whatever piques your interest. These are just some of the animals I saw while driving through the park (almost in entirety). I enjoyed seeing the animals more during the summer than I did during Winter mostly because of the weather. We could exit the car immediately and snap a few shots and then move on.
This moose I saw on Saturday. If you see cars stopped for no reason, then you have to assume there is an animal nearby. Once we saw it, we got out of the car to take some photos. He never turned around and I only snapped some pictures of his butt.
On Monday morning, my father and I left the lodge around 6:30 in the morning. The sun was just rising and the roads were very empty. As the sun was coming up over Lake Yellowstone, I searched the woods outside of the car for elk. While we were horseback riding on Sunday, we were not allowed to carry a camera of any kind. We saw about twenty elk in the backwoods with babies, but did not take any pictures. Instead, we saw a lone moose having his breakfast on the side of the road.
Somewhere north of the canyon there was a small traffic jam due to this little guy running along the middle of the road. I snapped a quick shot after he left the road before he disappeared. The we saw a buffalo way up the mountain side along the side of the road – like legit on the side. I had my telephoto lens on my camera when we pulled the car up to him, so I got an extreme close up.
This buffalo was rolling in the dirt pile when we spotted him, but he didn’t do it again after we pulled over to the side of the road. I think he was watching us.
This is one of my better photos of the buffalos I saw. He was chilling on the hillside casually walking when we pulled the car over.
After a few hours of driving, we came along to another traffic jam. This time there were a lot of cars, trucks, campers and people all over the road. There was a mama black bear and her three cubs just along the side of the road. The cubs were wrestling each other and trying to climb the trees. The photos are a little blurry from snapping a few shots while driving and because I didn’t want to get too close to a bear…because nature is a little scary.
You can view more of my trip to Yellowstone here.
XOXO,

Imagine seeing this lovely view with the animals enjoying their home, it’s so relaxing and peaceful. I’d love to plan a trip with my husband here one of these days!
Yellowstone is notable for its predator–prey complex of large mammals, including eight ungulate species (bighorn sheep, bison, elk, moose, mountain goats, mule deer, pronghorn, and white-tailed deer) and seven large predators (black bears, Canada lynx, coyotes, grizzly bears, mountain lions, wolverines, and wolves).
You can see pictures of these animals and be in awe of their beauty, but nothing compares to seeing a wild animal up close and personal and admiring their beauty.

Being that close to wildlife, especially the bears, would probably give me anxiety! I would love to see the buffalo in person though. They are odd but interesting creatures.
