Cabbage and Sausage Skillet Instructions:

Step 1: Sauté the Onion and Garlic

In a large pan, heat 3 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced yellow onion and sauté until softened and translucent, which will take about 6-8 minutes. As the delicious aroma of onions fills the air, add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until it becomes fragrant.

Step 2: Enhance the Flavor

Now, it’s time to introduce a burst of tangy flavor to the skillet. Mix in 2 tablespoons of white wine vinegar, stirring to scrape up any flavorful bits stuck to the bottom of the pan. The vinegar will add a delightful zing to the dish, complementing the richness of the sausage and cabbage.

Step 3: Brown the Kielbasa

Push the sautéed onion and garlic to the sides of the skillet, creating space in the center. Add the thinly sliced kielbasa to the center of the pan, allowing it to cook for 2-3 minutes per side, until it develops a beautiful golden-brown color. The kielbasa will infuse the dish with its savory goodness, making it the star of this flavorful ensemble.

Step 4: Creamy Dijon and Butter

Time to add a touch of indulgence! Stir in 3 tablespoons of butter and 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard, creating a luscious, creamy sauce that will envelop the ingredients in a blanket of irresistible flavors.

Step 5: Wilted Cabbage Magic

Next, it’s time to introduce the green cabbage to the skillet. Stir it in, making sure it’s coated in the flavorful sauce. Season the cabbage with 1 teaspoon of paprika, 1/2 teaspoon of red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper. The spices will add a hint of warmth and a gentle kick to the dish, transforming it into a satisfying and heartwarming meal.
